Shaggy and New

Today is my first day off on my uni break and I've just spend the day watching old episodes of MASH and relaxing. I thought I'd put together an outfit post showing you guys my new cardigan and also because I haven't done one in a while. If you remember back to this post you would see that I was pining away for a black shaggy cardigan, and it seems the magical powers of the universe brought one to me just in time for winter. I'm really loving anything with an intense texture this season and can't wait to get my hands on a few more cool pieces.
Wearing: Cardigan from Sportsgirl, Crop Top from Target, Skirt from an Op Shop (just $1!), Necklace from Equip, Hat and Jelly Sandals from the Markets.

I hope you all are having a lovely week!

This Week I Am...

Inspired By...fashion photography. Doing a photography unit at uni has forced me to really take notice of how a photograph has been constructed, its subject, the lighting, the colour, everything. I particularly love the image below, having a soft spot for beach photography, I get lost looking into the horizon seeing the ocean blend into the sky and the beautiful softness that is captured in the skirt.
Wanting...a fashionable leather harness. I don't want it to look too BDSM-y, rather wanting a really cool, unique piece that would be interesting to layer over a basic top and under a structured jacket, giving a bit more edge to my outfit.
Wearing...my extensive collection of beanies (and slouchy berets that are tucked away in a drawer). Cooler weather is forecast this week here in Perth and this gives me a chance to bring out my old beanies, the perfect solutions to bad hair days, and the easier way of bringing in colour to my stereotypical all black winter outfits.
Listening to...old My Chemical Romance. They are one of my absolute favourite bands of all time and I am so sad to hear that they have broken up, so this week I will have their albums on repeat and a box of tissues close by as I cry about the fact I never got to see them live.
Have a great week!

Sunday Market Haul: Part 9

My haul from todays market isn't as impressive as what it has been over the past few weeks, perhaps as the weather gets cooler people are less keen to brave the elements to sell their gear. However it seems today I have managed to come out with basically a whole outfit ready to go.
I bought the above stripe top for $2, at the moment I have a sudden love for striped clothing and am trying to expand my small collection.
This chunky charcoal knit cardigan was just $4 and just what I have been looking for, I've been wanting to get my hands on an oversized knit cardigan to wear with basic jeans, a top and a big scarf.
I love me a good pair of vintage denim shorts, especially when they are only $2. I know I don't need more shorts than what I already own, so I think I may have to start customising the shorts I do buy and resell them!

Hope you all have a great week!

Tip Five: This applies particularly to those in the Southern Hemisphere, the earlier you get up, the colder it will be, so layer up! Speaking from experience you do not want to use your hands to sort through clothes that are hanging on cold metal coat hangers.

Sportsgirl National Graduate Showcase

Apologies for not posting my usual Friday post, I spent all day at work and all night with lovely people catching up over a few drinks. However I am now glad I missed my personal deadline as my instagram feed this morning was lit up by people posting about Sportsgirls' National Graduate Showcase, where 12 graduate fashion designers from places of study all across Australia are given the chance to show their collections at L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival.
I've really been loving the more local, younger labels that have been sprouting up and slowly making their mark on the Australian fashion scene.
You can check out the profiles of the young designers on the Sportsgirl website here

Absolutely amazing designs by such talented people, I cannot wait to see where they end up.

Origami

A trend that I've been seeing for a while now on the internet is the origami skirt. Although I initially dismissed it, not usually being a skirt person, since being bombarded by cool pictures on instagram of white crocodile leather textures in this style, I feel myself converting and now on the lookout for one in the perfect style. I imagine one with an awesome clash of colours or textures, like a black leather skirt with a black short haired fur wrap over the top. Maybe I'll have to find a DIY tutorial somewhere and make my own!

Let me know what you guys think, do you love or hate this trend?

This Week I Am...

Inspired by...peculiar eye wear. A little trend that I am starting to pick up on lately in the many photos I go through each day is adorned or unusually shaped sunglasses, and not just the floral style that we've all seen and probably diy-ed last month. I can imagine wearing a statement pair of sunglasses that can make a usually bland outfit pop with a sense of quirkiness.
Wanting...a leopard coat. I have animal print on my mind lately since Stella McCartneys' latest collection and am in dire need of a quality faux leopard print coat that doesn't make me look tacky.
Wearing...all things silver. Silver has always been my go to colour for jewellery, however recently I have really been obsessed with a more brushed, antique look.
Listening to...Decisions by Borgore feat. Miley Cyrus. I randomly clicked onto this video one day and since have not been able to get it out of my head!
Happy Monday!

Sunday Market Haul: Part 8

It is so late over here it's early, damn uni assignments keeping me awake at night!
Today was a decent morning at the markets, I had good luck at the start picking up a lot of pieces for very cheap, however I bought nothing else for the rest of the morning. I don't really like those mornings because I get all excited thinking that the rest of the stalls will be as good as the first ones I visit and they never usually are!
This morning I picked up this shaggy knit vest which I am contemplating turning into something else as when I got home and tried it on, I found that it sat in a bizzare way.
Probably my favourite purchase today was these shoes for just $5! They will be such a great winter boot that suits the whole military, jungle graphic trends that are going on right now.
As always I find a few pieces of unique jewellery, steadily expanding my forever growing collection. Note to self: Sell stuff I don't wear anymore...
Finally this beautifully coloured snakeskin print blouse, I'm thinking of teaming it with a silky pair of shorts and some sterling silver jewellery...

xx

Tip Four: Always carry one (even two!) environmental bags that expand from the tiny carry cases to hold your purchases!
